The Section is led by its governing Council, consisting of 16 members elected for staggered terms of four years each, as well as the Section's officers: the Chair, Treasurer, Chair-Elect/Secretary, and Immediate Past Chair. The position of Chair is held alternately from year to year by a real estate lawyer and a probate and trust lawyer. During years in which a probate and trust lawyer is the Chair, the leader of the real estate side of the Section is the Chair-Elect.
